My AR/VR based material experience
Hey everyone! I'm excited to share the incredible journey we undertook in our latest ELT assignment. We teamed up with my partner and ventured into the realm of augmented and virtual reality to create a virtual tour of Cairo. The use of AR and VR in the classroom ensures a student-centered approach while inspiring students to learn and create new things. However, these approaches have drawbacks as well, such as distracted students and technical issues.
From navigating technical challenges to brainstorming creative questions, this project pushed us beyond our comfort zones. We used VR videos for the traveling part and for the local cuisine part we found the 3D Falafel experience. These VR experiences and answering the questions aimed to spark our students' imaginations.
Choosing Cairo as our virtual backdrop caused some difficulties– limited videos and the quest for authentic questions. Yet, overcoming these challenges became part of the adventure, fueling our growth as educators.
